I work to promote the field of anime and manga studies and to facilitate communications between scholars, students, industry professionals, fans and others interested in academic approaches to Japanese animation and comics in several different ways. I am one of the founders of the Anime and Manga Research Circle, and the editor of the Online Bibliography of Anime and Manga Research, including annual lists of scholarly publications on anime/manga and a searchable database. From 2011 to 2017, I organized the Anime and Manga Studies Symposium, held as a part of the program at Anime Expo, the largest anime convention in the U.S., and have presented on topics related to anime/manga studies at other major anime conventions, such as Otakon, New York Comic-Con, Anime Boston, Anime Central, and A-Kon.

My own academic interests are in the areas of scholarly publishing, social informatics, and organization of information in different social and cultural contexts. I received a master’s in library science (MLS) from the School of Library and Information Science, Indiana University Bloomington (now the Department of Information and Library Science). and a BA in international affairs from The George Washington University. My publications include refereed articles in Portal: Libraries and the Academy, Transformative Works and Cultures, Knowledge Management and E-Learning, and the Law Library Journal, reviews of various scholarly monographs, and contributions to several professional magazines/newsletters. I also provided event reports, news items, reviews, and feature pieces for the Anime News Network.

    • It’s not up to the “source” the way you cite them, but the format you follow. I normally work with the APA format, for example, but there are many others. Ask your tutor or one of your teachers (I assume you’re a student) which one youi should follow

  1. Tengo un artículo científico sobre lo heróico y lo estoico en Caballeros del Zodiaco y Dragon Ball, pero mi Universidad solo acepta que lo envíe a revistas científicas indexadas…es ese su caso?
